Job Description
The Senior Security System Designer is the company’s subject matter expert on design, responsible for the development and publishing of written physical security design standards; deployment validation; conducting both overt and covert tests and audits; driving innovations in both building design and related security devices; and leading the Physical Security Design, Standards & Testing Team. This position is based in Houston, TX and reports to the company president.

The Senior Security System Designer is expected to establish designs and policies that comply with our IT and Physical Security Policies and support the goals of our Operations Team while optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of security at our clients’ facilities. This includes leveraging technology and systems to create processes and support systems that are sustainable and scalable. Services include:

The Security Systems Engineer will support large security systems rollouts to protect our customers’ critical assets and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team that consists of our projects organization, consulting staff, product vendors, engineering, telecommunications, and application integration departments. The ideal candidate will come with a good knowledge of security systems technology, including access control systems, video surveillance systems, and perimeter intrusion detection.

• Detailed Physical Security design specifications and standards.
• Ensure proper engineering techniques are utilized from job mobilization to project completion, including documentation, training, and system commissioning.
• Interpreting Architectural drawing and Blue Prints.
• Drafting Scopes of Work, Project Bidding Packages and Project Budgets.
• Completing and/or coordinating the final Test and Acceptance of site security systems that leverage our access control system.
• Identifying and Prequalifying Security Integrators across the globe.
• Establishing and implementing effective, predictable and measurable procedures/processes.
• Working with customers to establish, provide and agree on goals, objectives, and performance delivery outcomes and timelines.
• Designing, developing, and implementing solutions for security system installations, upgrades, repairs and change-outs.
• Building and deploying training programs for users of physical security systems.
• Ensuring security system designs and specifications meet client functional requirements and properly interface with access control, video management, and other impacted IT systems.
• Researching, developing, designing and testing a variety of equipment, components, products and systems with the goal of optimizing and leveraging technology investments.
• Provide consultation, integration coordination, installation, upgrade and conversion or servicing of alarm systems, access control systems, CCTV systems, and related physical security equipment
• Ensure the integration/coordination of physical security with business systems and operations
• Produce tailored security solutions for projects and facilities around the world in alignment with security risk and budget
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the state of the art security equipment standards and technology encompassing all physical security products
• Participate in cross-security (cyber, physical, control system) security risk & vulnerability assessments

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree (or higher) preferably in Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
• Relevant experience in security, business, safety or risk assessment
• Proficiency in all Microsoft office products
• Ability to travel 25%-40% of the time both domestically and internationally
• Experience in the design of data network, servers, storage solutions
• Sound judgment and decision making skills
• The ability to handle complex matters and multiple projects
• The ability to perform under pressure and respond rapidly and within tight timelines
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as work as part of a team
• Ability to work with a wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds, countries of origin, and at varying levels within a corporate structure
• Ability to work as a member of a high performing team
• Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and critical tasks in managing multiple activities
• Good written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced Degree in Engineering or Management
• 5+ years experience in the design and deployment of integrated security technology. Systems including electronic access control, video management, electronic intrusion detection, intercom, command & control, and IP networks.
• Previous experience in a role that required knowledge of current and emerging security technology including hardware, software and appropriate application
• Experience in conducting physical security assessments and evaluations
• Knowledge of oil and gas, petrochemical or mining industry operations
• Experience as a Physical Security Project Manager for large, complex, installations
• Experience with the Security Integrator Industry
• Knowledge of AutoCAD
• Professional Certification: PE, PMP, PSP, RCDD, or CISSP Certification
• Certified in use Lenel, Software House and Honeywell physical security systems.
• Knowledge of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) and physical security principals
• Experience in converting from local access control systems to enterprise wide system.
• Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese

• Base salary $95K-$135K
