New Army PT test

The US Army is eliminating pushups as part of the part of the PT test to measure upper body strength.

There is a new tool they are using as part of the test to measure strength. So far results have showed a 30% failure rate amongst new recruits.

I always get a kick out of watching folks try to muscle through setting up a cot. As Will Turner said, it's about the right leverage and the proper application of strength.

Some of those old cots would kick ass on a few, for sure. Most of the dudes had never seen a cot till we got to a remab site. It was fun to watch guys putting something together that was used on the Normandy invasion! I sure do love my new oversized cot . It is the shit with either a Paco Pad or a quality air matress. I'll throw a party if I ever get to use it again doing something fun!

The canvas on some of the old wooden cots had to shrink over time. I slept on one for several years as a pup and I could never take it down or put it up.

I didn't bother. I was short enough and too tired to mess with it, so I just slept with the two ends dangling. Putting it back together for turn-in was also challenging for me.

Yup,

If I found a cot in my room, I'd call down to the front desk all kinds of pissed off.

One word.

Leverage.

Give me a lever long enough and I can assemble any cot...

And even got to use the second hole in that stretcher arm a few times.

You know what that was for?
