Hi My name's Bree and I'm researching info on my grandpa. I've had family tell me before that he was a Green Beret though I have my doubts. I'd love to find some info about him, he was an incredible man.

I am a Desert Storm veteran who served with the 313th MI Bn, 82nd Abn Div. I was with the 82nd from 89-92. Joined the reserves and served with 1st Signal Detachment, 1st Bn, 11th SFG at Ft. Meade. Trying to connect with some tabbed SF buddies and get some advice/input.

Hi everyone,

Thank you to all of you guys for your service I appreciate it, I have great admiration for the Special Operations community and have seen first hand how valuable your service is!

A bit about myself, my name is Daniel; I was regular army from ‘05 until ’13. While in the Army my job was all communication support related, I deployed part of OIF it was pretty average. I currently do research in the intelligence community here is Maryland.

I look forward to reading and gaining some useful insight from all of you.

Dan

to all of you who have served: One vet to another THANK YOU for your service!!!

That being said. Here's my intro.

I was not SF while in the Navy. I ran the reactor plant onboard submarines . I appreciate you all allowing me to join your online community. I'm here for research into my uncle's past and to act as a "cheer leader " for our current warriors.

I am retired for medical reasons. I served as a cook wityh c 2/3 from 2011-2005 and then with 3/75 Ranger from then until 1997. I started with A 2/325 back in the seventies but had a break in service. I was the chef for the JCS mess under General Shelton and figured out how mush I hated the job. I retired from HHC 2/BCT 82d in 2007. Thanks for letting a non long-tabber in. R. L T. W.

Hello. We probably know each other, as I was there from 89-99. Was a Shadow (BTW, Shadows are now C Co.), then was a Headhunter just before retiring in 99. Welcome! No BS kinda people here, and some damn smart ones also.

Its a probability that we do know each other. I was in C company my whole time there but spent plenty of time working with the other companies and on the road with them as well.

Greetings all. I joined up on here because I have a great respect for those of you who went beyond basic service, and took that extra step. I served in the ARNG for about 10 years, got out, and am currently employed as a federal civi fixing guns. Married, kids, and all that jazz. Thanks for having me.

Thank you for allowing me into your community. I feel like a fish out of water since I am not in the military. I do have an ex-husband that was Special Warfare and another ex-husband who was in the ARMY stationed in Germany until very recently. I appreciate the acceptance! Bless you and thank you all for your service to this country.

Hi, thanks for letting me join the group. I'm still serving, 24 years in the Navy, about 2/3 in ASW helicopters and the rest doing a mixed bag of jobs - none of them that exciting. Am now working at the NSHQ in Belgium, which is how I heard about SOCNET.

Just joined.

I was a crew chief/door gunner on a UH 1C Huey gunship in VN from Jan 1966 to Sept 1968. Supported a lot of SF operations from overhead and was there for some of the really 'fun' stuff. Came home, became a cop and retired in 1987 as chief of a small department and went back on AD with the Army. Re-qualified as a UH60 Crew Chief and then Platoon Sgt, then lost my senses and decided to qualify 11B and after doing so made it it to 11Z as a 1SG. Got badly hurt in a training accident in 1997 and medically retired in 1999. Then started working for the veterans benefit Administration, Veterans Affair as a rating specialist then as the nation-wide subject expert in researching military history in support of veterans' claims. Got fed up with VA management and walked away in 2007 and now I am spending my son's inheritance on lots of guns ("I think you need to buy one of these, Dad") and renewing my long admiration for craft beers

Hello operators and supporters of the SOF community

I Have a rather unique military experience, I was a Navy FMF corpsman and went through BUD/s in 96' with Class 208, 18D in Bragg, and the rest of the pipeline. I served with SDVT-1 for almost four years until i got out in 2001. I Did a few deployments but nothing exciting. I have spent 12 years of my life after the service as a DMT/CHT working on Hyperbaric chambers in various regions from Hawaii, UAE to western Australia. I currently serve in The WI national guard. Guess I missed the feeling of being in uniform after many years away.

I am a little over trained for my guard duties but love it none the less. I look forward to sharing info and using this site to connect to others in the community.
