I was in a local Walmart anout a month ago and shocked to see they were putting up what looks like a glass rifle/shotgun carousel next to where the bullets are. I thought Walmart went anti gun a while ago.

Depends on location and clientele.

Downtown Indianapolis WM - no guns.
Plymouth, Indiana WM, small more rural town in heart of farming country - good selection of rifles and shotguns.

They still sell guns - they just do it with a 'field and stream' sign over the register

I dont mind paying a bit more to their competitors that still sell what I want to buy. some folks will buy at dicks no matter how anti-gun the marketing becomes - because the 2d ammendment was based on smoothbore muskets

I always thought that place was over-priced anyway. I haven't been to one in maybe 5 years. Their stance on guns just seals the deal.

Wife and I quit working for Dick’s back in ‘08 after they took over Chick’s- which I happily worked at for three yrs. prior. DSG started cleaning house from the gitgo and we wanted no part of it. Sport Chalet was worse we came to find out- founder Norbert Olberz went high-functioning-senile towards the end and would visit his stores, then regularly chew-out customers nearest to a disheveled ski-clothing rack..

..so never rule out early onset Mil-Speculosis from corporate staff as cause of political anti-2A caving.

There is a Dicks close to me but have never been in it. Guess I never will now.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to polish a turd.

Looks like Dicks will be closing some Field & Stream stores due to a lack of revenue. Maybe they'll "re-think" their decision when the bottom line, $$$, dries up.

Maybe. But I don't think so. In fact reading that and the one the other week referenced in that link, they'll double down on their decision all the way to the river where they'll sink.
No listening to their consumers. No listening to their vendors. Only the sound of their inner narrative.

There is good news for them though. I anticipate they'll be joined by others.

My Prediction that is off-rail a bit is look for Big Stores in all categories to go under in the near-ish future. Either change the way you operate or fail. They have a choice.

Sebastian from the "Shall Not Be Questioned" blog did a good summary of the great business decisions at Dicks.

They'll simply pass to stronger hands. Normal corporate evolution.

Someone posted earlier in the thread, maybe TFG, that these things take time to feel the effects. You always don't get instant results.

Its showing in their revenue now.

Right. Possibly a likelihood as long as their fearless leader doesn't allow the ship to truly tank.

Of course if it does, then they can re-brand it and sell Soccer balls & Sports bras to the inner city.

The nice RED map post-election counts for something. But don't tell Dicks that.
