Agreed, once you get past the: He was talented but dressed weird, and a complete eccentric showman onstage--the truth about the man was that he a true virtuoso, and not only did Prince write and produce his own albums, he also played every instrument and made all the arrangements when recording his songs. One of my CzarGuitar.com creations, this being a Claro Walnut on locally-grown maple Telecaster. It's being played in these two videos by a local guitarist who's pretty much tearing it up. One of the comments was pretty funny... great playing, vocals ok. You be the judge

His halftime performance for Super Bowl XLI (2007) was amazing, even if only a small glimpse into how much range he had as a performer. He just understood music on a different level than most.
