One would hope but the experience of Lockerbie would suggest otherwise,

The Economist's correspondent reported similar scenes from Ukraine earlier today,

I'm very pleased to hear that POTUS is outraged by this incident. Now if only Kerry would get out in front of the cameras and display his outrage as well, I'd feel so much better.

Nevermind, no point guessing on it.

Other than getting involved in the war, what should POTUS do?
Sanctions and angry talk condemnation aren't enough... so, what is?

When the Soviets deliberately shot down a Korean airliner with 62 Americans on board, was President Reagan also "a complete pussy" for doing nothing other than condemning it and offering a few sanctions?

Are you assuming this, or did/do you have access to his private dealings with the Soviets?

Let me be crystal fucking clear.

Discipline in the face of adversity and following your last given order during a lack of leadership is what makes us honorable men (and women).

The degradation of the office of the POTUS stops now. Anyone not heeding my words will get a fucking vacation to contemplate their fate.

TFG

From communication intercept reported in news, I would say you are 100% correct ('we shot down').

Individual system is very highly automated- to point that community organizer could operate it with 2 page manual in drawn crayon.

In automatic mode- FC computer will select targets. Attending monkey only needs to approve launch. This is the obvious 'recipe for disaster' for single system and civilian air traffic in area.

You guys discussing the POTUS are obviously passionate but I would suggest caution on some of your wording -- this is still the POTUS you are referring to and this is still SOCNET....

When are you people going to acknowledge the occult forces that are clearly at work behind these tragedies.

I mean we already have half of SOCNET thinking that Joe McCarthy was the shit and Hitler was a Communist- why won't you fuckers just get on board for the big win?

Ukrainian Intelligence Service (SBU) published an intercept regarding possession of BUK by separatists.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVAO...ewJIRb2yku5EuQ

plus this one on the main event
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbyZ...u5EuQ&index=12

hard to say if it's authentic.

In the meantime Russian News outlets are in full and relentless "It wasn't me" mode. I won't be surprises if they say aliens did it.
Makes Fox News look like BBC in comparison.

So it looks like rebels did it.

Oh -- PRO-Russian rebels. Yeaaaaaaaaaah, that is certainly a boon for the thug that is Putin.

So I get that we as a country aren't going to make much of a real stink, but I'm curious about Europe. There were a shitload of Europeans on that bird, no?

Meh, they are probably looking at the coming winter and already stumbling over themselves as to whom sends the Kremlin the nicest Xmas card in exchange for flowing heating fuel....

..
There is little doubt that these "rebels" had Russian advisors IMO. Look at any youtube video of them fighting and miraculously the ones with comm, tactical proficiency and matching gear are always wearing balaclavas to cover their faces.

I suspect the EU will throw a hissy fit, whine and dry hump each other and nothing else. They have no ability to project combat power or much of anything. They hold no real economic cards. In many ways they are ever more of a lightweight than when we had to front everything in the Blakans for them.
