Question Auto text reply app or otherwise...

I am able to set my email to "Out of Office", via Outlook. Voice mail is that easy too. Is there a way to do the same with texts?

I have a droid and use "messaging" for texts and SMS.

My Galaxy S8 has an auto-reply setting.

Neat. I never thought to check for that.

I receive enough work texts that I need to be able to tell people, "go the fuck away, I am fishing; call this guy instead."

Do you use it? How does it interact with what you normally use for texting?

It was available on my v10 and v20. It's probably Android 5 or later.

Used to - works independently. But I misunderstood your post and now see that you want to interact with known / previous contacts. Seeing that you are running KitKat (Android 4.4.X) - your best bet is to try upgrading to a later Android version which supports DND capability, else turn the volume all the way down.

There's a way...I just don't know it yet. I shot somebody a text earlier and they had an auto-reply that they were driving and would respond later.

It's not volume thing. I can ignore my phone. It's a let people know I won't be answering immediately thing, when receiving a text. It is a work phone, and I have considered asking our IT guy, but he is either slow, stupid, or buried. I am going with buried. Thus my question here. He will get asked...

Messages+ ended up working for me. Once it was done downloading, I started + and disabled the other. + down loaded all the messages in the other app.
