The Mandalorian (Star Wars show on Disney+)

I have kids that like Star Wars and love Marvel so I signed up for Disney's streaming service. The pilot exclusive show for the service is a Star Wars show titled The Mandolarian about the warrior/bounty hunter race from the movies (Think Bobba Fett).

We watched the first episode last night and it is really good. It's an excellent throw back to the original films as it is a nod to Space Western concept. It grittier and a little darker than the more recent Star Wars productions.

There are a lot of familiar actors in it to include Carl Weathers, John Beasly, and Nick Nolte.

And the soundtrack is fantastic as well. If every episode is like this, it will probably be the best Star Wars production ever.

I liked it. It looks like it has good places to go. Esp liked the ig888 assassin Droid parts "I will self destruct now" "Don't self destruct dammit!!"

I liked it. The soundtrack was particularly cool - Star Wars take on The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

It's clearly a homage to the old westerns (and samurai) flicks of the past, and I'm totally cool with that.

This is a cool video about the blaster the Mandelorian uses is based on a historical pistol.

Boba Fett was my favorite Star Wars character until he dropped into the almighty Sarlac. I'm thoroughly enjoying the series. The disintegrations were awesome in today's chapter.

Love the old Western feel. The fact that one guy taking on three takes damage in Hollywood is a new thing. Getting his salad tossed by the rhino creature. Hero's are cooler not when they win easily, but when they win hard.

I'm actually really liking it so far (besides the fact that I'm a die-hard Empire supporter). +1 on what Local said re: loving the old west feel. It's part of what I liked about FireFly so much.

From Episode 2: "I'm a Mandalorian. Weapons are part of my religion".

Can't complain at all. It's been very, very good.

I see the Mandalorian as a bounty hunter with a conscience and look forward to where it's going.

I read it is supposed to be awhile after Return of the Jedi.

It's a few years after Return of the Jedi so after the Empire is defeated but before the Republic government gets established. And it's about 20-something years before The Force Awakens.

What's the cheapest way to watch this? Could I "join" once all the episodes air, and binge watch, then cancel? Have a Roku.

Should be able to do this. I signed up for month to month and will probably cancel once they’ve all aired.

Apparently, you can unlock the Amazon Firestick and watch anything for free that way. I think some call it 'jailbreak'. Is it illegal? IDK. You're watching content for free that others have to pay for. So, it probably is illegal.

I took my office manager to Chick-fil-A the other day and she was telling me about it. We got to the register and the guy behind the counter jumped in the conversation and said he is doing it too.

Supposedly in Ep 1, time 18:30, Bob Fett makes a cameo? At least the armor that is being worn matches Boba Fetts armour...hmm
Really liking this series.

Bobba Fett died in Return of the Jedi which is before this series. May be the look a like....

I haven't read the million spin off books and comics, but I believe there's a story out there that he survived the Sarlacc Pit. If it's really him, I would expect the show to exploit that at some point.

I've enjoyed the first 3 episodes so far. Lots of "easter eggs" in this series. From what I understand, and based on the what the interwebz geeks are saying, this takes place about 5-6 years after the Empire was defeated (after Return of The Jedi). One of the reason they don't take Imperial credits.

I've been watching it on Cinema Free (app on Amzn_Firestck).
