OK guys, I am sold. My favorite carry is my Glock 23C with some mods. However, I recently shot my son's SW M&P 9mm, which I would not admit I liked, the backstrap and high bore axis, and at my age the less recoil from .40 is appreciated. So my question is.....
HK VP9 OR Walther PPQ in 9mm (compare/contrast) Appreciate your input in advance, gentlemen. |

Very similar weapons. Both have great triggers (for striker-fired platforms). Recommend you take a look at the accessories you tend to collect, and determine which ones are easy to procure for HK vs Walther.(i.e. favorite brands of holsters, aftermarket sights, etc).

Yes, this is pretty much what I have gathered, early on it seems the VP9 magazines were uber expensive, doesn't seem to be an issue now. Night sights are a must in my book, so I will reverse engineer this!!

PPQ is available with Paddle or button mag release.
Myself I like paddle releases as I have small dick beaters. I'd go with the VP 9. HK mags are tough and should last your lifetime. Trigger wise the VP 9 is the best out of the box IMO the more I shoot it the smoother and better it gets.

Took your advice and pulled the trigger (pun intended) on an HKVP9 in FDE/LE with night sights and 3 x 15 round mags. It was out of stock almost everywhere I searched, but found a website that allowed me to put a deposit down on the next batch of 6, of which 5 are now spoken for, before they hit the store.
Will post my review when I get my greedy little fingies on the bang switch. |

57medic,
Be advised that SWEET (5.25 lb-ish) out-of-the-box trigger is going to smooth out even MORE after about 300-400rds, and turn into the sweetest "factory" trigger on the market (my opinion). Reliability is 100% and ergonomics is amazing! It just gets better with time. HK out-did Themselves with this one, especially with it's "normal 9mm" (not typical HK) pricing! If I remember mine was $625 (with tax) or so. |

I'm sure not joking.

VP9 SK 2017
Rumor from the HK booth this week at IACP in San Diego is that they will release the VP9 subcompact next year. FYI.

Looking forward to trying the trigger, I put a 3.5 ghost connector in my G23, and wow!

Picked a VP 9 up about a month ago, put about 300 rounds thru it with no problems. shot a little left out of the box but I blame myself for that. Had my wife and daughter shot a couple clips with it just in case they needed it or picked it up. Now my problem is I have to make sure my daughter doesn't leave her M&P and pick mine up.

I have a VP9 and it is ergonomically the most comfortable pistol I have touched. Love it - but my daily carry right now is a G43 with extended mag from TTI just for being thinner.

Getting another!
I traded my VP9 in on a XDm with a 5.25" barrel for shooting steel challenge. But, now that (I'm pretty sure) the 2A pressure is off...I plan on picking up another VP9, just because the trigger and the ergonomics are THAT good. And the price is much less than the typical HK prices. I wish they made a 5.25 barrel for the VP9, I would have never traded it. I'm sure within a year or so they'll make a threaded 5.25 for the VP9 and I'll switch back from the XDm for competition. It's just THAT good.

I looked at it, and it was close. The threaded barrel was 4.7. Not bad, and I'll likely go that route on the replacement. I may turn the XDm into a full on Open Class shooter (with compensator, optics), and leave the HK factory-stock for Limited. Whole different mindset now with pro-2A inauguration in January. Change in purchase strategy. Must have a long-barreled VP9!
