Sev was a mentor, brother, and friend... I will always remember the way he led from the front through exemplary deeds, and his on point sense of humor. I will miss him, not just on the team, but everyday.

Ron was an outstanding leader and took every opportunity to cover his men and do the right thing despite obstacles. I will sorely miss his congenial and encouraging presence.

Al was a humble, soft spoken, capable and determined warrior. His dry sense of humor and affability were noted by anyone who ever met him. He never let work discourage his fun, or fun reduce his professionalism.

I will always remember fondly these men, and look forward to the day when we will all meet again and talk about what I missed while they were my Advon to a better place.

I work with CPT Luce's older brother, Richmond, that graduated Ranger School with my son in DEC 2007.

If the CPT Luce, the younger is half the Soldier his older brother is, then he was a great leader.

Rest In Peace Warriors- prayers out to the families of these brave men.

Here's the news release..

The Department of Defense announced today the death of three soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died from wounds suffered when insurgents attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device Aug. 2 in Qole Gerdsar, Afghanistan.

Killed were:

Capt. Ronald G. Luce Jr., 27, of Fayetteville, N.C.;

Sgt. 1st Class Alejandro Granado, 42, of Fairfax, Va.; and

Sgt. 1st Class Severin W. Summers III, 43, of Bentonia, Miss.

All three soldiers were members of the Mississippi Army National Guard, and assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Jackson, Miss.
