Midway

I loved the original. This looks like it is really relying on special effects. Let's hope it's more Saving Private Ryan then Pearl Harbor

Hopefully it honors the sacrifice of VT-8.

The trailer looks wsy too much like a video game.
I'll probably see it anyway.

Some of those sequences looked like they were taken from Pearl Harbor.

It has woody Harrelson in it.

I loved these movies growing up, I hope they do justice to memories of the warriors that are no longer with us.

The trailer looks plain awful. I don’t plan on seeing this.

The action sequences in the trailer, although high-tech, still don't look as good as the ones in the 1976 version. Plus, the cast -
1976 - Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, James Coburn, Hal Holbrook, Robert Mitchum, Cliff Robertson, Robert Wagner, Pat Morita, Tom Selleck, Erik Estrada, and many others
2019 - Luke Evans, Patrick Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Dennis Quaid, Darren Criss, Nick Jonas, Aaron Eckhart, Mandy Moore. Hmmm...

1976 = lots of veterans in leading roles, with many of them WW2 vets, in a movie with realistic action sequences, targeted at a generation whose parents or grandparents lived through WW2

2019 = lots of youngsters with experience playing video games, in a movie that looks like a video game, targeted at a generation whose primary source of information about military matters comes from playing unrealistic video games

The CGI company doing Midway is the same company that did Pearl Harbor.

I have no problem with CGI.

I DO have a problem with CGI that looks like shit.

Especially CGI that is inaccurate, ie: Zeros diving between ships, etc.

The battle was epic on it's own merit. There's no need to embellish it with stupid antics like I saw in the trailer.

From the trailer...the Pearl Harbor scenes obviously cgi. The at sea battles look more authentic. Yea, I'll watch it. Woody Harrelson. Liberal fuck. I love him.

Like mentioned already. How can you beat the 76 release cast?

I'm gonna watch it, especially on a big screen. Hopefully they won't muck it up too bad.

China contributed toward funding the movie. I reckon they want Americans to remember that the Japanese were the bad guys once.

I saw that in the opening credits. However, I think the tie-in was with the Doolittle Raid portrayed in the movie. The Japanese weren't portrayed as demons, IMHO.

Wife and I went last night. Great movie, every bit as good as the original.
A must see on the big screen, simply due to the FX.
4.5 boxes of popcorn out of 5.

Are there a lot of subtitles in the movie? I'm in a foreign country and hate seeing the local language instead of English and not knowing what's going on.
