Jack Reacher #4....re-reading them trying to get the Tom Cruise movie trailer out of my head. WTF were Paramount thinking casting that little pissant with the squeaky voice as Jack Reacher? Geez.....saw the group fight trailer by mistake and Cruise was the smallest guy there and that high pitched squeaky voice of his is like fingernails on a chalkboard.

One movie I won't see because it'll ruin my image of the book Reacher.

The Ardennes: The Official History of the Battle of the Bulge. Quite a beast of read and very detailed but worth it. My uncle (RIP) landed at Utah and fought there w/the 158th Eng. Combat Bn in VIII Corps. Got shot up near Bastogne but survived to live a long, good life. Visited there in 2010.

Looking for a new book. Any recommendations both good and relatively cheap?

Robert A. Heinlen's Requiem.

A compilation of short stories, including a number of which had not been published before - plus a number of tributes and records of lectures given by Mr Heinlen back in the day.

Great read so far.

Also, I just picked-up The Best American Science Writing 2012 by Michio Kaku. Many different articles from different authors, encompassing the whole spectrum of scientific inquiry.

I have "almost started" that book at least three times.

Is he as much of a moron as he appears to be? I am a big G&R fan and have seen him on several interviews and the guy never gave me the impression his IQ was over 60.

Seriously, if you hear him speak, you'll think the same thing.

It's tough to say, but he's either fairly intelligent or he has a great ghost writer. It's pretty good and it's about his recovery from drugs, alcohol and mental issues as much as it is about the band. He writes a couple regular columns which I haven't read. In more recent stuff he seems like a sober adult rather than a messed up kid. It's worth reading for a fan. I distinctly remember how fucking awesome they were and how pissed I was when they broke up. First concert ever.
