Thumbs up

The USAF brass did NOT want that video to be seen in public. Reason? It clearly shows the A-10 in a very positive light. Can't have that ugly-ass, low-flying, dirty, sub-mach, Grunt-supporting plane getting good press while they're trying to surgically remove it from the inventory........that's why the CAS fly-off is happening against the F-35 in 2018.

I visited the F35 hangars on Eglin AFB in 2012 as part of a 'morale tour'.

I got to ask their maintainers (who were bright guys) exactly what was functional and wasnt.

One of the crew chiefs told me that the only functional systems at that time were VHF/UHF/RadAlt and other essentials to land and take off.
I think their big push at the time was getting the gun working.

Awesome video, thanks for sharing. Those beautiful birds bailed my unit out of many a hot situation. I'm enlisting as TACP, very excited at the prospect of working with A10s.

Half dozen squadrons worth IIRC.

Great video!
I remeber when they were testing the A10s at Lewis in the late 70s.
