Approximate age and claimed time of service helps a whole lot.

I used to go to church with a guy who was a grunt in WWII, was wounded in Sicily, went ashore in France a couple of weeks after D-Day, and just prior to VE Day was redeployed to the Pacific, arriving in Okinowa just after that fight was over, and a month before Japan surrendered. He's the only guy I ever knew with both Europe and Pacific Campaign medals, and was of the opinion that Operation Coronet was going to kill nearly everybody involve; for him, the use of nukes to end the war was a Godsend.

My father had both Europe and Pacific Campaign medals. Sadly, he didn't talk about his experiences much and, of course, his records were lost in the big fire back in the 70s so I'll never know the full story.

1303rd Engineer Regiment was in both Europe and the Pacific. Actually spent some time in Tokyo during the immediate post war period.
