Intro

Recently left Army after 12 years as a medic...5 years on the line, 7 in MEDEVAC as a flight medic. Entire time was at FT Riley, KS with 1ID. 4 deployments: 2 Iraq, 2 AFG. Wife and 2 kids. Currently preparing to begin clearance process for PSS/Para position with either Janus or SOC...just have to decide which is a better opportunity.

Norwegian in New York

Hi all, and many thanks for having me in this forum.
Hop I did this right.
I am 51 years old, and a former norwegian soldier/officer, who did some tours abroad with Nato and the UN. Bosnia -92, Somalia -93, and some small things in the Middle east later on. I was so lucky to have good american leaders in Mogadishu, and I still have good contact with some of them. Since I, my wife and daughter are going to New York in february, I thought it would be nice to visit a place where veterans get together on Manhattan, and where one can make a donation to the cause. I have been in contact with The American Legion, and they have forwarded me to other persons, but no answers from them. So if any of you know of any location on Manhattan, where veterans meet, I would be very grateful. We are going to stay at some place called the Viceroy. We are also going to take the train to Washington DC one day, when we are in USA. We are invited to my former leader in Mogadishu, who is now a ritered general.
Once again thank you very much for having me on this site, and happy new year to all of you. Stay safe.
Best wishes from Norway.

Skaug

I was blessed to serve before I married and started a family. In my opinion, your best current opportunity is the one that allows you the most time with your wife and kids. Make the most of that time and thank you for your service!

Hello SOCNET

Greetings to Everyone,

Just wanted to give my intro. I have been a long time follower but feel like I should get involved a little more in the community.

I am a former US Marine and current 18B with 19th Group. I've served combat rotations in both Iraq and Afghanistan and have recently re-entered the private sector.

I appreciate everything you guys do and hope to talk with you all further and continue to soak up the vast amount of knowledge on this site.

Thanks,

Winny

Happy new year ladies and gentlemen! Thanks for approving me.
About myself, I'm 21, a parachute rigger in the USMC, and stationed on Camp Pendleton. Been in for over a year 1/2 (Lcpl) and so far I'm liking the job. Being a rigger we can get attached to Recon and MARSOC units so you guys are probably pretty familiar with us. That being said I think those communities are awesome and hope to have the opportunity join them one day. Cheers!

What unit are you with now? The Training Officer at 1st Marine Raider Bn is a retired 0451/MGySgt and could probably help you provided that your shit is wired tight and you meet the pre-req's. PM me your response so we don't dick up the Intro thread.

Already have a few inches of snow, apparently the end times have come. Jump got cancelled though, so my joints are happy about it.

Been a lurker for a while. Utilize SOCNET to try and keep up with all that’s going on with the military. Gunny was right. I miss it dearly and regret not making it a career. Though I regret it less and less every day with all the changes.
