The mounument used to be directly below the cross. They moved it recently. Also added that golden plaque in honor of the OIF vets who gave all.

Forgot how much an asskicker it is witha full ruck and full hangover

Thanks for the photos, I've never thought to bring a camera with me up there.
I can see the cross from my office right now. :-)

I will forever remember hearing Moses you have a phone call over the intercom in the barracks.

A 1/4 just had a Marine killed by an IED. Headed back up to the memorial soon. I've vowed that for as long as I can make the climb, I will carry a rock for all of those who have fallen. And when I can't make it anymore, I'll have somone push my damn wheelchair up "Mountmutherfucker"

- Were you at the barracks? I'd like to hear a bit of the story if you don't mind. Pm or open.

This was way before the war like 96-98. Rocha was always getting calls and Moses isn't the most common name so it always stood out. I only casually knew him since he was in another company. I was just able to recognize his name off the casualty list real quick and remember that he was a real great guy.

I only casually knew him as well....I was a boot. OUTSTANDING Marine though, and sorely missed by a lot of my seniors who knew him well.

Not sure about anything filmed at Horno, but I know parts of "Heartbreak Ridge" were filmed next door at SOI.

How long has this been there? The way you guys are talking it sounds like it may have been up before the war? I've never heard of it. Which hill is it on? Embarrassing that I can't tell.

It's on the saddle just North of the radio tower on Horno Peak. Not sure how long it's been there.....first time I visited it was after OIF deuce. I'm under the impression that it was created after the war started, but not certain.

IVO: 11S MS 5375 9185..... IIRC.

Haha...long story short, it had been over a year since my last trip up there. Went to Horno to see 1/4 off about 2 months ago. Decided I'd hike up there to the memorial at first light after they loaded on buses. Well, I was ENTIRELY too trashed to find paper to write down the grid I had just plotted for it.......so...... still in my phone LMFAO!!! :D
