Sent to me 6/5/2013 by a family friend of WO1 Sean Mullen. This family friend lives "next door" and "just around the corner" from the Mullen family. Message follows":

"The Governor, Jack Markell has issued that all flags, throughout Delaware, be flown at half-staff until Friday evening. Politicians aren't always known for following through, so I drove around Dover this morning to make sure all the flags were at half-staff. Believe me, Cass, if Legislative Hall and all the government buildings in downtown Dover, didn't have those flags in proper placement, I was all ready to march right in there, the heck with security, and make sure each and every one of those buildings had them flying right! As he stated, they are all flying half-staff including many homes throughout the small town of Dover.

The Mullen's family are my next door neighbours, Sean's sister lives right round the corner. Thankfully our neighbourhood is largely made-up of military families. So, as we do in these difficult times, we band together and support one another in whatever way we can. Nearly every house in the community has their flags out to honour Sean...and hopefully, Mr and Mrs. Mullens and his sister, will be comforted by all those flags....

RIP, Sir!

There are still Americans that believe this matters! My young twin boys have learned that we pray for the safety of soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines nightly. Living in a heavy military area, we have ample opportunity to thank them as a family. As soon as my boys are old enough they will learn of the their cousin's sacrifice in Afghanistan and "Uncle" Mike who died saving the life of his brother in Iraq. Americans are still humbled by our heroes!

A later salute to WO1 Sean Mullen from a very close neighbor:

"When I left early for work this morning (6/6/2013), I noticed the houses on both sides of the street, by the Mullen's home, were lined all along the curbs with waving little flags, including the big ones flying by the doors. By the time I got back, later this evening and turned into our community, those flags had multiplied to other houses on other streets, all the way out to the main road. "
