Duties: Serve as Lessons Learned Senior Military Analyst for the United States Army Special Operations Command Lessons Learned Program. Applies in-depth knowledge and extensive experience with the principles of Special Operations, US Army Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental and Multinational (JIIM) organizations at the tactical through operational levels. Collects and evaluates documents from the full-spectrum of military knowledge in responding to requests for information. Directly supports the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) and SOF operations through the collection of Observations, Insights, and Lessons (OIL) and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP). Applies subject matter expertise in research methodologies and techniques to locate hard-to-find military and agency resources. Applies analytical skills in identifying key issues, lessons and TTPs for SOF operations or topics.

About the Position: Duties continued: Executes and supports the development of published and unpublished lessons learned products through researching, writing and/or editing, as needed.

Will be required to deploy with and to the USASOC components to OCONUS to conduct research in support of command requirements and objectives.

This position may require frequent travel for substantial periods for normal duty, both inside and outside the continental US. The employee is required to travel in hostile and environmentally adverse conditions.

On short notice, the employee may be required to work overtime and work hours outside of normal and on holidays.

General Schedule

Specialized experience is defined as expert and demonstrated knowledge in research methodologies, techniques and qualitative and quantitative methods for analysis equivalent to the GS-12 level. In-depth knowledge of and extensive experience with the principles of Army, Joint Interagency and Multinational organizations and the complete range of military operations. Knowledge of adult education principles, theories and procedures related to implementing and institutionalizing Army Lessons Learned.


GS-12 and above: One year of experience directly related to the occupation and equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. There is no substitution of education for experience at this level.
The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.
Your pay will be set within the range specified in this vacancy announcement and will be based on your qualification, education, experience, training, and availability of funds.

I'll bet you a dollar the position is already filled; and this announcement is a courtesy to check the blocks for 'fairness'. Whoever posted this already has someone in mind.

Possibly but under the VEOA (Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998) they must if all other things are equal hire a vet.

I'll bet they have someone in mind but they still have to be 'out of the loop' for 6 months before being hired...

I applied for the same position with TF160 and they cancelled the recruitment before the closing date.
