Lost 52 Project locates USS Grayback

I'd never heard of this group before. It's a private team that's looking to locate all 52 US subs lost during World War 2. The founder of the group says that the 47 subs that are not yet located should all be discoverable.

In June of this year, they located Grayback. Previous attempts had relied on a mistranslated document that had them over 100 miles away. NYT coverage

RIP sailors.

That would be a great honor and closure to the Submarine Sailors, and their families.
We have one WW2 Submarine Vet in our group in Charleston.

I wonder if the late Paul Allen(Microsoft guy) had anything to do with the one?

He and his resources were critical in the discovery of numerous discoveries of sunk ships.

From what I read at Lost 52's website, I don't think Allen's group is helping with this one. Allen's team seems to have a much broader focus (all naval losses); these guys are just looking for US WW2 subs.
