"Froggy" Poser on SOCNET exposed

"Froggy" on this site is a fake. He had zero posts but here was his profile:

Credentials:
PO2
BUD/S Class 259
Assigned to Seal Team 7
Two tours: Iraq/Afghanistan etc. Location: Currently moving.

He was exposed on another site where he did post:
------------------------------------------------
Started talking to recruiters my freshman year(HighSchool) about the Navy.
Got a copy of the PST requirements to be eligible for BUD/S selection.
Started working out as much as I could.
Joined straight out of High School.
After several months I finally got my chance.
BUD/S Class 259 Hooyah!
Assigned to Seal Team 7.

Been overseas twice. Iraq, Afghanistan...other places.
-------------------------------------------------------------
And the bust:

Time to come clean. The truth is, I'm not a SEAL...never even been in the military(not allowed to due to personal reasons, no I'm not a criminal). I look up to people like that, I wanted to be one of them...but I was told I couldn't. When I joined this site the only real reason was to interact with people who actually BTDT without looking like a "civvie" as some call it. It was wrong and I apologize. I've never claimed such status anywhere else, just here. I should've dropped the act long time ago..but I got attached to some of the fine people here and it was hard too. My dad found out what I was doing and got very angry, I can only imagine how angry it makes an actual service member and I apologize.

I have no excuse. I'm an idiot. I shouldn't have done it, nor will I ever do it again. Please forward this to the other mods. I will erase my avatar and dogtag.

Thanks for your service...I look up to you guys.

What a nerd. I wonder if he'd still be posing if his dad hadn't caught him.

Never said you weren't. That's why the poser's screen name is quoted.

I just wanted to make that clear on my own. No accusations either way. I am often addressed by "Froggy" in here so it seemed prudent to mention it.

Frank,

Will we see you at the WC Reunion this year? Didn't realize that was you. I have to tell you that I am a terrible recruiter for NSW. I just had a phone call with some kid who just graduated from bible college today. I felt compelled to give advisory statements regarding the special "spiritual challenges" of living the NSW lifestyle. Not so much like a bible college environment and so forth. I just don't like to see people waste their time (and the Navy's time and $) if they are not adequately "informed".

Best

Not to worry. I get all kinds of requests for prep guides from hopefuls. From their dialog I most often read that they just want the shiny Trident and the ability to dazzle the girls. These I shred out by advising that SEALs are trained to combatants, not poster boys. - Cripes I hardly made it and I am really good looking.

It is amazing how utterly unrealistic people can be about this business. Its as if some people look at training as a fat farm or some cool eco challenge with guns. I can't remember the last time I spoke to someone that wanted to be in the Teams that I felt had a good shot at it. Of course, I'm not keeping score on these people, but last time I checked the attrition rate was in the mid 70%s.

I will say this, and I do say it to new guys that I meet. I have tremendous admiration and respect for those of you who graduated from BUD/S after 9/11 knowing that you were going after it. In my day, we just hoped for something to happen and the vibe surrounding the "Gulf War" was so much different than nowadays. I finally got my war on in '07 and came away from the experience so very proud to be part of NSW and grateful for the chance to go to war with the guys.

Sorry for being so tangential here, but I did want to give you newer/newish guys in here some props.

Froggy (the real one!)

Tied it back!
