Memorials...
I saw the line "My town's flag flies at half-mast too many times" and I thought of the fantastic folks I served with during my tenure at Hurlburt and my heart broke...
RIP Spirit 03 and Jocky 14 And God be with all the rest of SOC. I remember each of you every day. Godspeed, usaftacp26 |

spirit 03
It has been a long time since i have sat down and thought of the men on spirit 03. I had never had the opportunity to see the faces of the men on that spectre...until now, when i followed the link to the memorial page. I was in The persian gulf during that time and my platoon was assigned the job of recovery from the crash site... I don't have much to say about it other than god bless. It was an honor to help establish these brave men from MIA to a known status. RIP

Spectregunner,
I just happened upon your post. Outstanding tribute! I was the PltSgt of the Force Recon recovery element that inserted at the crash site of Jockey 14. Six SEALS from my good buddy Jim W's plt were with us. My plt had just worked with this fine crew 3 days prior on a job outside Mog. Semper Fi. |
A very honorable tribute. May they all Rest in Peace. ~S~

I just went through that entire site.
Excellent job... and thank you. RIP men. You're not forgotten. |

Jockey 14
I was on the Jockey 14 AF safety investigation board, we set up in a little thatch roof restaurant on the beach by the crash site.
Silverbullet you'll remember that I'm sure. Those were all good friends of mine and it was difficult to walk the beach every morning to see what personal effects had washed up. Great job Wes. Keep up the good work. |
Great Tribute

great tribute.
The men stationed at Hurlburt were my neighbors at the time of the Spirit 03 downing. I still remember some of the wives and children left behind of these brave men. RIP. |
Talk about memories. I talked to the crew of Jockey 14 doing QRF rollouts in Moqdishu. Goodie, one of the guys I work with, was a SEAL there and dove the crash sight (according to him.) We sure did like having those guys hanging around. Sad, sad loss it was.

I just watched a show about the battle of Al Khafji on the Military Channel. They didn't mention anything about the Air Force's biggest single lost of the Gulf War of 1991.
