I think I met this fine American in January. SSG Thomas and the men he served with have my thanks, gratitude, and condolences. May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort in knowing that he made a huge, positive impact on the world and the US Army.

Whenever I read an obituary of one of these men, I cannot help but think of how much pain his brothers in that community must be experiencing.

I've heard it said that the first rules of warfare is "Good men die", and that the second rule of warfare is that no one can change rule number one.
It sounds like SSG Thomas was the exception to rule number two.

My sympathy to his teammates, and family.

RIP, Staff Sergeant Thomas.
