Hard Core Warriors!
My heroes weren't crack addicts. They weren't grown men who play with a stick and ball for a living. They weren't people who pretended to be honorable men on film. Rather, they were the steely-eyed Vietnam era Navy SEALs and MAC/V SOG Warriors who dared to stealthily creep into enemy strongholds, like the Rung Sat Special Zone, and expertly handed our enemies' asses to them! The fact that it was also done in a manner that scared the bejesus out of the enemy was just that much more motivating for me as a young man.
I felt the overwhelming primal pull to become such a man and join their ranks to fight beside them. I am honored to have even had the opportunity to serve in any capacity, let alone on the SEAL teams and in combat with such great men. Although there are plenty of worthy heroes, the Vietnam era spooky bad asses will always remain my personal favorite. God bless each and every one of them for setting an example of honor, bravery and uncompromising violence of action against our enemies. What a great legacy.

Compared to the "heroes" portrayed on tv to our kids these days, these men clearly stood head and shoulders above all. Much respect. As a side note, it's also motivating to know how many haj are currently meeting Allah on a nightly basis at the hands of our brothers. Nighty night, little rabbits...

I worked with them (SEALs) several times during my tours flying in the Delta, they were a good group of guys. NA BE was always fun to stage out of. Lunch was good as well.

The older I get the more I realise how true the old saying is "we stand on the shoulders of giants"... The US Navy Seals stood to the uptmost values of the true warrior and stood the test of time against some fierce odds... every age has its leaders and warriors, those whom we admire and look up to for standards and expections, from Vietnam to the Termopolye... the principles of honour, courage, intellect, descipline and committment echo through each age and stand as cornerstones of the freeworld giving us strength and protecting us from the forces that would turn our structures into rubble.. I too think it a great legacy and thank all those whom went one step more then those they protect to make sure we hand our freeworld structure to the next generation... Exo.. |

I dont feel compelled to join in on a lot of forums/postings...
I grew up in Europe, watched the US Marine hoist the flag at the US Embassy and got hooked, ended up in Force Recon & lateron Army SF I love what everyone said on this thread, my heroes always were the US servicemen burried at the cemetaries accross the land for which they fought & died in the country where I grew up ( Luxembourg) Thanks for reminding me what an honor it was to serve alongside the greatest fighting men - and most determined bad asses to ever destroy communists/insurgents/ terrorist and any other flavor of enemy of all free people De Oppresso liber & Semper Fi! |

Truly proud to have ever been allowed behind the black curtain. Today's media spawned heroes are weak, compromised wastes.

The SEAL friends and others that I have met over the years have been truly exceptional sailors and soldiers. I will always cherish my time with them; either fighting alongside, or just having a beer in a pub with them. Men like these are what make our country what it is. No stupid ass movie, or slanted TV special with ever change the fact that the men who came before us, the men that we work with now, and the men that will be doing this job long after we are gone are what makes our country great.
