MSG William Carlson Tomahawk Award
Honoring one of America's Bravest Warriors!
The MSG William Carlson Tomahawk Award is presented bi-annually to the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Cadets who embody the principle characteristics of MSG “Chief” Carlson – fearlessness, mental and physical toughness, and dedication to his mates. Chief was killed in action hunting terrorists in the mountains of Afghanistan on 25 October 2003 as a member of a joint Central Intelligence Agency/Special Operations Force clandestine operations team.

Before joining the ranks of the CIA, Chief served the Nation for more than 20 years in the U.S. Army. His impeccable service as an Airborne Ranger, Green Beret, and Delta Force operator marked Chief as a genuine irreplaceable warrior. A descendent of the nomadic Blackfoot Indians, fierce warriors and masters at hunting the enormous buffalo, Chief’s skill and courage as a modern day warrior mirrors that of his proud ancestors from generations past.
