Here is a portion of the DoD News Release:

The Department of Defense announced today the death of an airman who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Capt David A. Wisniewski, 31, of Moville, Iowa, died July 2 of wounds sustained June 9 in a helicopter crash near Forward Operating Base Jackson, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 66th Rescue Squadron, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.

I logged on tonight to see if anyone had any news on the survivors of the crash on June 9th. SrA Benjamin White is my brother-in-law, and our family has continued to pray for those that were injured. We are saddened to learn that Capt. Wisniewski has lost the fight. Rest in peace.

Yes, the two remaining survivors of the helicopter crash are at BAMC in San Antonio, TX. My father-in-law has spoken to the gunner who has severe burns on his lower extremities and will probably be in the burn unit until December. Please pray for these heroes, that they have a speedy recovery and that they can handle what they've gone through mentally.

Tech Sgt Christopher Aguilera has had a surgery that has allowed him to keep his left foot and leg. They did remove his achilles, but it relieved alot of pain for him for them to do so. His wife Heather said that they are going to do a final graft over the burn site on Monday and that he may then be able to be outpatient for his future treatments. Please keep him and Capt Simone in your prayers as well as the families who are still coping with their loss.
