I just want to be worthy of the company I keep here; all of us are flawed, but 'keeping company' with the folks on this site, emulating the example set by Andy, who WAS the same person both on and off the keyboard- that's what I meant. Many people can be "Internet badasses"; this place is full of 'reality badasses'- that's why I'm here and why I miss Andy. The term "Been There Done That" has an 8 x 10 glossy of him next to it- a real life 'quiet professional' whom was as generous and caring as he was caustic.

Well said.

It’s been a long time since I posted here. I joined the site...what...fourteen years ago? As an arrogant, brat teenager.
I never forgot the lashing I received from SOTB, rightfully so. I haven’t kept up with much stateside, and I didn’t know he was gone. I can say this - I had a huge amount of respect for him, and tried to convey this to him. It’s a distant connection, but years afterward, I’ve risked my life on multiple occasions, and stood my ground. He was part of that on some level. I’m sorry for your loss, all of you. Rest In Peace, sir, and thank you for the influence you had on me. |
