Anyone want to proffer a guess at how many women have been found wanting for admission to heaven on the basis of a pinky test over the past year?

SOTB is still sorely missed around here. Here's hoping the anniversary of his passing is gentle as can be to his family.

First time posting in a long time. I recently ran into a fellow SOCNETter who had informed me of Andy's passing. I must admit--it stung. Andy and I had spoken several times via SOCNET and on the phone, although we had never met face to face. I appreciated his candor. If Andy agreed with you, you had no stronger ally...if he didn't, you had no fiercer opponent.

I'll celebrate his life, tonight.

Fair winds, Andy.\\

OOC, sends

SOTB is still here in my opinion. His posts are very much worth reading even if you have done so before. We chatted via PM here and there. What a loss.

I caution myself when hitting send because SOCNET always holds its members to a higher standard, always reminds members that you're going to get called out.

Either don't hit send or be prepared to back up what you say. There is no in between.

SOTB held many of us to this standard.

So, so true. Great lesson for SOCNET and life, sometimes you need to just sit back and listen. RIP SOTB.

Andy was a giant among us- I fervently wish that I was held in such regard- not for popularity's sake but for the wisdom that gave pause to so many. Miss you brother!

SOTB would be first in line to tell you how in high regard you are held here.

As I commented to another member- "I just want to be the person my dog thinks I am"- the same applies here.

I just want to be worthy of the company I keep here; all of us are flawed, but 'keeping company' with the folks on this site, emulating the example set by Andy, who WAS the same person both on and off the keyboard- that's what I meant.

Many people can be "Internet badasses"; this place is full of 'reality badasses'- that's why I'm here and why I miss Andy. The term "Been There Done That" has an 8 x 10 glossy of him next to it- a real life 'quiet professional' whom was as generous and caring as he was caustic.

It’s been a long time since I posted here. I joined the site...what...fourteen years ago? As an arrogant, brat teenager.

I never forgot the lashing I received from SOTB, rightfully so.

I haven’t kept up with much stateside, and I didn’t know he was gone.

I can say this - I had a huge amount of respect for him, and tried to convey this to him. It’s a distant connection, but years afterward, I’ve risked my life on multiple occasions, and stood my ground. He was part of that on some level.

I’m sorry for your loss, all of you.

Rest In Peace, sir, and thank you for the influence you had on me.
