US NAVY EOD KIA RIP TONY RANDOLPH

DoD Identifies Navy Casualty

The Navy and DOD have released the below statement. It is not correct, as for some reason they list Tony as an IA on a CST.

EOD2 Tony Randolph was at MU8 supporting the NATO ISAF deployment near Qalat. My most sincere condolences go out to his family, friends and teammates still in theater.

RIP Brother.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Petty Officer Second Class Tony Michael Randolph, 22, of Henryetta, Okla. died July 6 in an improvised explosive device attack on his convoy in northern Afghanistan. Randolph was assigned as an individual augmentee to Combined Security Transition Command - Afghanistan.

For further information related to this sailor, media may contact Sixth Fleet Public Affairs at (39) 081-568-4696 or e-mail Brian.Badura@eu.navy.mil . For information regarding the incident please contact Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan Public Affairs at telephone (93) 700-069-484 or e-mail CSTC-APAO@swa.army.mil

Tony and his EOD team worked extensively with our ODA for the last four months. Their bravery under fire, steadiness under pressure and affability in our down time endeared him and his two teammates to us. He was a decent poker player, excellent sailor and an all around good dude. Humble and quiet. He died a warrior. He will be remembered. Blue skies brother.

I didn't meet him but the ODA guys at Mog were pretty upset about it. Are you at Mog? Baylo? I should be back at Mog tomorrow.

RIP Brother. Blue Skies.

And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

I am the captain of my soul.
