Are you fucking serious? That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard all week...and I'm at a senior staff planning conference, so, the bar has been set pretty high. You should be proud. - Gavin

Commandos.

I don't see the big sin, in a sense, a MEUSOC is essentially "a small fighting force specially trained for making quick destructive raids against enemy-held areas." And at least in the reports I've seen so far, the Marines who boarded were members of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit's Maritime Raid Force -- raids -- commandos....

Haven't seen more on this yet, but it could have been anyone. If this was the 15th MEU(SCO) as reported, of course, it could have been the Force platoon. That being said, it could have been the guys from the Boat Company for the MEU.

Remember the "Rescue of Scott O'Grady", behind enemy lines in a hostile environment, the TRAP Team wasn't Battalion or Force, but the motar platoon from Wpns Company if I reacall.

Basically they are Marines, and any Marine can tell you we have all been thrown into something before with the WARNO, "see that thing, we are going to go get that thing, go get your shit on!"

Good job to them though, Semper Fi Marines!

Whoever the gunny can find that's not already on a working party.

No shit.

Also; "Gents, due to the publicity involved of this type of thing, we really don't want any gunplay. OK, so who do we have for the raid force?"

"Umm, damn Gunny -- I'd like to, but I have to help scrub the shitters."

"Gunny, count me in -- oh wait, I have a EOC meeting at that time -- you know what happens if you miss one of those."

"Not me!"
